Over the past month, I have watched Liam's personality literally explode! He smiles at everything and everyone, and is constantly screeching, cooing, and making noises at mama and daddy. Oh - and belly laughing. He loves to be tickled and anticipates it with a scream. Don't get me wrong, I loved having a newborn and never wanted it to end, but everyday gets better and better as I watch Liam grow, learn, and LOVE life! God has definitely blessed us with the happiest baby in the world. The kid literally only cries if he is hungry, getting shots, or is startled (which is also accompanied by the biggest bottom lip you have ever seen).Liam's doctor said that he is starting to teethe, and that he will most likely get his top two and bottom two teeth at the same time. Makes sense, I guess, since he is drooling gallons each day and sucking/chewing on everything. I also wanted to make it known that Liam's eyes are turning brown - just like his mama's eyes!
Liam also camped for the first time this last month. He loves being outside, so naturally, he loved camping. He slept better in the camper than he does at home and LOVED being outside all day.
Liam also watched fireworks on the lake for the first time this past month! He watched about 3 rounds before I took him inside (I covered his ears). I think they were a little bright for him though. As soon as I took him inside, he ate and fell asleep (right about 10pm, of course). Chris and I were able to enjoy the fireworks together on the deck while Liam slept.
Liam and I had plenty of milestones in the last month, including me spending my first night away from him. I attended an overnight bachelorette party about an hour away and Liam stayed with my parents. He did great, but I could tell he missed his mama. I am surprised that I didn't feel more guilty leaving him for that long. I think it was good for us though. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, after all.
Sleep
Liam is still an excellent sleeper (knock on wood). Although getting him to sleep a minute before 10pm is impossible. I've tried so many techniques to get him to sleep earlier and wasted so much time doing it, that eventually I gave up and decided to enjoy those few extra hours with him. He is typically sleeping from 10pm until 5-6am, eats a big meal, then goes back to sleep. I usually have to wake him up at 8:15am to get him ready to go to daycare. On the weekends he will usually sleep in until 9am! Napping is still hit or miss. He naps the best after nursing or in the car. I mean who doesn't like a nap after eating, or in the backseat of a car? Smart kid. Eating
Liam, as you can see, still appreciates a good meal. Because he is still gaining weight at an incredible rate, sleeping well, and has almost no issues with an upset tummy, we have opted to continue to exclusively breastfeed him - instead of introducing solids. His doctor actually suggested that I continue to exclusively breastfeed him and when he is 6 months, we can see where we want to go from there. Why fix it if it ain't broken? He typically eats about 6-7oz every 2-3 hours, except at night.
